Coming Soon to Hippie to Hipster

Brief synopsis since I've arrived in Austin-

This city is trying to be San Francisco so hard.

Cows. Tons of cows.

It's hot and humid.
-No need for sweaters at night.

The layout of streets makes NO sense.
-even less than SF

I haven't seen any spiders yet.
-or rattle snakes.
-but I did see a giant frog.

Elaboration and visual aids shall come all in good time, my dears.

ATX Pride Parade

In the midst of all the chaos of moving, I've neglected to look up when the pride festival is in Austin. Since LA, NYC, Seattle, and tons more all have their pride parades and festivals during the same weekend as SF, I had assumed ATX would be the same...

Thank goodness I was mistaken!

September 1st, you could quite possibly be my favorite ATX day of the year. We shall see.

I've signed up to volunteer at the festival!
Look at me, the little LGBT community member is finally growing into her platform heels.

Nostalgia: I had terrible tastes in music (and probably still do)

Every once in a while (several times a week) I look back on the music I used to listen to growing up and laugh at the poorly written lyrics, realizing most of these songs had the same background music.

I've posted about this before with plenty of music videos, and this is exactly what I'm doing now, but with the added benefits of the worst lyric, interesting facts, and where they all are now. For some reason I'm fixated on the late 90s/early 2000s today.

JoJo - "Leave (Get Out)"
"It's too late and I can't wait for you to be gone." BURN!
Real Name: Joanna Noelle Blagden Levesque
Age upon album release14
Comes from: (born in)Vermont, (raised in) New Hampshire and Massachusetts
What she's up to now: Gearing up to release her third album: Jumping Trains
Were you aware she still existed? I sure wasn't.

Captcha

Google fails at Captcha.
I've never clicked that little handicap sign before, because I usually understand the word...

scemicale?
scenicde?
eh?
So I clicked the handicap sign...

Thanks.
That helped.

California Sales Tax Changes Today

All state sales tax in California dropped 1% today.
Marin changed from 9% to 8%
San Francisco changed from 9.5% to 8.5%
and so on.

If you're clueless as to what the sales tax is in your area, you can look it up with this handy dandy site I found earlier today (which was conveniently updated today 7/1/11)
